Sample Family Itinerary:

Travel Day

Overnight flight from USA to Catania Fontanarossa Airport in Sicily. 
Flight costs are not included in quoted trip costs.

Day 1

• Families arrive in Taormina.

• Driver will pick you up at the Catania Fontanarossa Airport and bring you to your hotel. You’ll find a welcome and orientation packet with contact numbers and things to do.

• Family Activity - meet families for welcome cocktails, from 5:00 pm, and dinner at 7:00 pm.

Day 2 

• We pick up the children at 10:00 am and drop them off at 5:00 pm.

• Today’s activities for the children include:

  • Italian Language Class.

  • City Walk & Talk - Understanding the story of Sicily through Taormina's architectural legacy.

  • Isola Bella - The walk continues all the way down to the beach at Isola Bella.

  • Lunch and beach activities.

  • Sicilian Music Workshop - This interactive class, taught by a recognized teacher and musician, is broken up into two parts: the first introduces the sounds and techniques in popular Sicilian song, while the second is dedicated to traditional instruments and dance.

Day 3

• We pick up the children at 10:00 am and drop them off at 5:00 pm.

• Today’s activities for the children include:

  • Italian Language Class.

  • Pizza Making Class & Lunch.

  • Sicilian Ceramics Workshop - We visit a well-known ceramicist in his studio and learn about the history of his trade in relation to Sicilian culture and how he developed his own particular style. This is followed by a hands-on workshop where the children paint their own ceramic pieces.

Day 4

• Today is Family Excursion Day. We meet as a whole group at 8:00 am.

• Today’s activities for the children and adults include:

  • Market-to-Table Excursion & Mangiata - Visit the fish and vegetable markets with Chef Turi, where you’ll see the fish come in fresh, then walk into the fields and orchards to choose your sides. We return to the restaurant where you’ll participate in the preparation, and then we feast!

  • Italian Language Class - after lunch, the children will engage in a lively Italian class around the excursion experience. We will drop them off at 5:00 pm.

Day 5

• We pick up the children at 10:00 am and drop them off at 5:00 pm.

• Today’s activities for the children include:

  • Italian Language Class.

  • Lunch.

  • Sicilian Workmanship & Family Traditions - We meet an internationally renown jewelry designer and learn about the history, techniques, materials, and Sicilian context in her family's tradition and workmanship in gold, silver, bronze, and iron. Children learn about and practice the principles of design in jewelry.

Day 6

• Today is our second Family Excursion Day. We meet as a whole group at 9:00 am.

• Today’s activities for children and adults include:

  • Mount Etna Tour - We will take a drive to Mount Etna, passing through several Sicilian towns. There, we will meet our guide and walk around the craters of the volcano as we learn about the history of Etna and take in the immensity of the location and view.

  • Etna Winery Visit & Lunch - On our way back, we stop at a local winery for a wine tasting and typical Sicilian lunch.

  • Upon our return to Taormina, we make a quick stop at the ceramics studio with the children to open the kiln together and discover their finished ceramic pieces.

Day 7

• Today is a free day to explore the city or beyond on your own with your families. We will provide you with lots of ideas and options to help you plan and coordinate a great day.

• Today's Family Activity begins at 5:00 pm:

  • Family Cooking Class & Farewell Dinner.

Day 8

• Driver will pick you up at your hotel and drop you off at Catania Fontanarossa Airport.

• Families return home.
